BRIAN HUNT REPRESENTS CANADA AT THE 2012 F18 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

My good friend and Connection: Corporate Health client Brian Hunt (Crew) with Seamus Woodward-George (Helmsman) just returned from competing at The 2012 World F18 Catamaran Championships. They won Top Canadian Boat in the Silver Fleet - Incredible accomplishment!

Here are his final thoughts on this journey. To read more click HERE for the Team Storm Blog:

The boats are packed and ready for the drive home which will happen very soon.

This was an amazing regatta. The Alamitos Bay Yacht Club went all out to put on a World class event. John Williams, Chris Ericksen and their team should be applauded for all the hard work that they put into making this event one that people will remember for a long time.

As for our results. We would have liked to finish higher in the standings and feel that we are capable of being there. We felt that we didn't have a great qualifying round in Days 1 and 2 but we steadily improved each day of the regatta. Had it not been for some bad luck (3 capsizes in 3 days) we likely would have placed higher in the standings. In the last three days we were consistently running in the top 5-10 boats each race.

We had an amazing time and fun racing in such a competitive field where a tiny mistake could cause you to lose several positions in a race. That's the kind of racing that makes you want to come back for more.

Two other Pacific Northwest teams did very well. Shrek locked up first place in the silver fleet with Shack Attack taking second. We were pretty happy to get two PNW boats on the podium. Way to go guys!

It was only three short years ago that six PNW teams came to this same venue for the F18 North America Championships and got schooled by the rest of the fleet. This past week it was obvious how much the PNW teams have improved in the last 3 years.

Well it was good seeing old friends and making new ones. We leave Long Beach with a lot good memories.
